Garbage Collection Services
The City of Monroe provides curbside residential household garbage collection for all citizens within the city limits. Each resident is provided a 95 gallon GREEN cart for garbage and a 95 gallon BLACK recycling cart (made from recycled materials) upon request. Collection days are based on where you live in the city.
The monthly rate includes garbage, recycling and yard waste collections as well as bulky item collection. The fee for garbage collection is $18.25 per month.
One roll cart has a 95 gallon capacity and will be sufficient for most households. Additional carts can be provided for a monthly fee of $18.25 for transport and disposal and will be included in your garbage bills. Call (704) 282-4565 for information about receiving an additional cart.
Rules and Regulations to Ensure Timely Service Delivery:
Place your garbage cart no more than four (4) feet from curbside, no later than 7:00 a.m. on your day of service.
Remove your garbage cart from the curbside, no later than 7:00 p.m. on the same day of your service to prevent receiving any violations.
When placing garbage carts at the curbside, place them with the wheels facing the home. Leave a 2-foot space between your two carts and any obstructions like mailboxes, parked cars, utility poles, etc.
Carts shall not be placed on public sidewalks or streets or in such a manner to obstruct the vision of motorists or the free flow of traffic or drainage along any public street.
Do not place grass clippings, garden waste, medical waste, construction and building materials, auto parts or hazardous waste in your garbage cart.
